Our Story

Beth & MarySue
MarySue and Beth Cabled Fiber & Yarn
Cabled Fiber & Yarn opened as Cabled Fiber Studio in October 2011 to showcase the fiber arts and artists of the Pacific Northwest.

Recognizing that there hadn’t been a yarn shop in Port Angeles for many years and that the community needed a place to gather, socialize and share their love of the fiber arts, Cabled Fiber Studio was opened, as a place to congregate and educate.  With our move to our current, more spacious, location in 2014 , Cabled Fiber & Yarn was born.

MarySue French, our original founder, has been a ‘fiberholic’ for 60 years; knitting, spinning, weaving and felting and has been active in the North Olympic Shuttle and Spindle Guild, Northwest Spinners & Fiber Arts Association and the Straight Knitters Guild. Cables are a passion for MarySue (hence the shop name) and the store has had great success with teaching cables to knitters and spinners of all skill levels.

Beth Witters began her association as the Education Coordinator for the studio from the onset, bringing together a wealth of local talent to teach knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving and felting classes. In 2014, Beth became a partner in the business and has taken on the daily running of the store as well as organizing classes and workshops. She also has a long established love of fiber arts and enjoys "infecting" everyone she knows with that passion.

Pacific Northwest's Cascade Yarns continues to be our ‘flagship’ yarn, but we have grown to include a wide variety of locally produced yarns and spinning fibers. We are particularly interested in sustainable agriculture and products which support a healthy environment. See our Products Page for the extensive list. We encourage others to experiment with techniques and to join us in sharing the joy of creation, experimentation and diversity in the fiber arts.
