This brick-and-mortar yarn shop appreciation day is designed to bring together our unique community of knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners to drive awareness and celebrate their craft.
Knit Sisu Special LYS Pattern
One of our Favorite things about Local Yarn Store Day is the special patterns indie dyers and designers come up with.Jill of Knit Sisu has designed The LYS Day 2024 Shawl with 2 options written into the pattern: a monochromatic 2-skein fingering version, as well as a 3-color sport or DK version. For the monochromatic look, this can also be done in sport or DK (3-skeins for yardage), and the design looks great in solid, tonals, and variegated yarns.

We are thrilled to announce new Kits from Urth Yarns. Ulukayn, in Turkish mythology is the tree of life at the very center of the earth. Reimagined in a skinny scarf, on a 2-color Garter base, constructed with slip stitches, and Estonian Nupps.
Designed for Earth Day the inspiration was to create a tree motif using Urth Yarns Spiral Grain and plant-based dyed Harvest Yarns. Each kit is named for mythological goddesses of Turkey. We have 4 kits available in limited quantities. Online tutorials and a Ravelry discussion group are also available.

The Local Yarn Cowl is free from a participating LYS when you buy 2 skeins of fingering to make it. It is a simple design because a lot of us can use simple right now. You will receive an individual code from Cabled Fiber & Yarn when you purchase the yarn. You can use a solid and speckled, solid and variegated, or 2 solids. It requires 320 yards of each skein but can also be made to use all of the yarn.
