Top Down Cottage Socks with Magic Loop

Classes are paid separately and dates are arranged with the teacher.  We have both  Tuesday and Saturday morning classes scheduled, but an evening class is possible as well.  We have set this up to be 3 weekly sessions paid separately, but additional sessions are possible.

Join Jane in this stress free introduction to knitting a pair of socks.  Each 2 hour Session of this class is $40 and this is a 3 session class, with each session paid separately. The Socks use worsted weight yarn (we recommend Cascade Pacific Worsted) and a 32 or 40 inch circular needle.

In the first week you will learn the anatomy of a sock  and how to cast on and work in the round using the "magic loop" technique to begin your top down sock.

In week two you will learn how to create a heel flap, turn the heel and work the gusset. Be prepared to be surprised how easy this really is!

In the final week you will learn how to decrease for the toe, how to graft using the Kitchener Stitch and Jane will demonstrate other sock designs.

As a bonus, you’ll have unlimited access to experienced store staff between lessons.

You must purchase your yarn for this class from Cabled Fiber & Yarn so that students are all working with the same type of materials.  The pattern calls for 2 balls of yarn (you will have enough left over to make a pair of fingerless mittens).

The first classes uses size 3 and size 5  32 or 40 inch needles.  Students may bring their own needles or purchase at the beginning of the class.
